Engaging memorial art, creative workshops, end-of-life resources & support

I’m Marissa Clemence, a memorial artist and death doula.
I create memorial pieces that offer opportunity for ongoing connection with our loved ones after they die.
Life in Death began with a personal need to honour the people I love in ways that felt tangible and meaningful. Through memorial art, creative grief practices, and end-of-life guidance, my work supports individuals and families in honouring a life lived — their own, or that of a loved one or pet — and in preparing thoughtfully for the end of life.

Testimonials
Memorial art in honour of her mother
“Everyone was so moved by your lovely commemorative work. No proper words express my gratitude.”
– Heather Kirk
Honouring their father
“Working with Marissa was a deeply meaningful experience. After our dad passed away, we weren’t sure what to do with his ashes, and the options online felt overwhelming. The pieces she created help us remember our dad in everyday life in a way that feels simple and elegant. My brothers and I are truly grateful we found her work.”
– Thomas Finley
Collaborating on a creative project
“Marissa is a kind and wonderful person to work with. She is professional, creative, and her genuine passion for art shines
through in everything she does.”
– Nakesha Chong
Community Commemorative Art
“It was my 2nd year attending The Way of the Wild Woman festival in 2025. With some yarn or ribbon, each of the attendess were invited to adorn the beautifully woven wheel Marissa had thoughtfully crafted to capture our togetherness. At the end of the gathering, as I gazed upon what we had collectively created, I was filled with awe, appreciation and felt a sense of togetherness I didn’t know I could experience with Women I barely knew. Months later, my heart is still impacted as I catch my breath seeing its beauty! Stunning!!!“
– Tina-Rae Saikaley
Workshops
My workshops explore ancient and contemporary ways of honouring both the living and the dead, while inviting participants to sit with death as part of life. Through creative practices and shared reflection, each gathering offers space for curiosity, connection, and personal meaning — without requiring prior experience or knowledge.
End-of-life Support
My death doula work supports individuals and families as they navigate the end-of-life process with greater clarity, care, and intention. I offer guidance around practical and emotional preparation, legacy and remembrance work, and gentle support in making sense of what is unfolding.
I can provide presence at the bedside or during vigil, and serve as a steady bridge between the dying person, their loved ones, and the medical team — helping communication remain clear and needs remain centered. This work is about creating space for connection, dignity, and choice, so that the final stages of life are met with as much care and awareness as possible.
